Cyprus hoping for more winter touristsCyprus: 9 June 2008The Association of Cyprus Travel Agents (ACTA) addressed the problem of seasonality at their annual general meeting yesterday. Akis Kelepeshis, president of the Acta, spoke about the growing need to concentrate efforts on tourist attractions that will run all year round, reports the Cyprus Mail. In particular he highlighted "big tourist infrastructure projects" as an important area, citing marinas, conference centres, casinos and golf courses as potential attractions. Mr Kelepeshis noted that there had been improvement in the past year, but commented: "[They will be more effective] if there are cultural and entertainment events... increased numbers of flights during the winter months and, of course, if tourism in winter brings profit to the business."
