Cyprus popular with Russian property buyersProperty investment abroad: 5 March 2008Overseas property investors from Russia are increasingly snapping up holiday homes in Cyprus, according to a new study. Research by the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (Rics) revealed that the house price growth on the Mediterranean island is outpacing much of Europe. The organisation credited overseas property investors with helping to drive values up by 15 per cent last year. This is much more than in many other European nations, including Spain and France. Commenting on the island's appeal, Rics observed: "Russian and other purchasers are said to be becoming more prevalent." However, the organisation said the rate of house price inflation in future could be dampened slightly if a surge of new properties come on the market. Earlier this year, both Cyprus and Malta were admitted into the single European currencies. This takes the overall number of countries that use the euro up to 15. See our Cypriot featured properties
