Easter holidaymakers fly to Spain

Millions of British people will be flying to places such as Spain during the Bank Holiday weekend, experts have revealed.

The Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA) described Spain as the "outright favourite" for holidaymakers from the UK this Easter.

According to estimates from the group, about two million Britons are set to leave the country in the next few days, with many enjoying the sunshine which Spain is currently experiencing.

ABTA remarked: "The weather here promises to be excellent, and temperatures should firmly remain in the 20s."

The observations have been echoed by airports across the UK, with Gatwick in particular highlighting the popularity of Spanish locations.

About 600,000 passengers are set to pass through its terminals this weekend, flying out to places including Madrid, Barcelona, Malaga and Alicante.

The airport added that Sunday is likely to be its busiest day this Easter, as it is expecting to handle about 108,000 leisure travellers.
