France attracts foreign property buyersFrance: 19 June 2008Foreign property buyers from across Europe are choosing to snap up homes in France, according to new figures. Data from the French government revealed that in the last few years, the country has attracted investors from places such as the UK, Italy and Switzerland, reports Homes Overseas. In fact, Europeans were said to account for more than 90 per cent of all foreigners who own a property in France. Figures also showed that the overall number of people from overseas who own a French residence has gone up significantly in recent years. Statistics indicated that in the last 11 years, the number has risen by 50 per cent to about 300,000. Properties in rural areas were said to be especially popular, while coastal residences were also highly sought-after. Many Britons have recently been drawn to the country since the introduction of a high-speed rail link between St Pancras station in London and Paris. See our French featured properties
