France recommended to British buyersProperty investment abroad: 3 April 2008Overseas property investors from the UK have been advised to purchase a residence in France. According to Homes Worldwide, property in the European country is about a third cheaper than a house in Britain. In addition, property values in France were said to be up on last year by four per cent, whereas prices in the UK are beginning to fall. The website said this shows that the banking crisis that originated in the US is not having a deleterious impact on the country. Homes Worldwide commented: "The market does not seem to have been affected by the so-called credit crunch that has unsettled the US and UK markets." The online portal added that while mortgage lenders in Britain are reluctant to fund property purchases, lenders in mainland Europe are offering a broader range of deals. According to currency exchange specialist HiFX, France accounted for more than 25 per cent of the enquiries it received from prospective investors last year. See our French featured properties
