Holiday home buyers snap up Turkish property

Turkey has become a highly popular destination for holiday home buyers from the UK, property specialists have revealed.

According to RightmoveOverseas.co.uk, there has been a 26 per cent increase in the amount of interest in Turkey over the last 12 months.

This was partially attributed to its affordability, as properties are much cheaper than those in places such as Portugal, Italy and Spain.

Justin Figgins, director of RightmoveOverseas.co.uk, commented: "People [are] looking for a holiday home in the sun at an affordable price."

He added that Bodrum is currently the most popular part of Turkey among lifestyle buyers from the UK.

Mr Figgins stated that almost half of the properties it has listed to consumers are located in this area.

This comes after Sarah Brown of NuBricks.com stated that plans to boost Turkey's holiday industry could have a profound impact on the housing market.

She believes that holiday homes in the most desirable areas will go up in value as a result of extra demand.
