Holiday homes 'can be a good investment'Property investment abroad: 11 June 2008Owning a holiday home overseas in a beachfront resort can be a good long-term investment, it has been suggested. Buy-to-let has become a popular investment strategy in the UK in recent times, but the surge in property prices in the past few years has moved it out of the reach of many people. Debbie Watson decided to search further afield for her money-making property and eventually settled on an apartment in the Costa Blanca city of Torrevieja. She told the Telegraph she paid £125,000 for it six months ago and has already had some success letting it out to holidaymakers. Ms Watson eventually hopes to sell the apartment on at a profit, explaining: "I couldn't afford a buy-to-let property in the UK and don't have a pension, so I bought this property as my pension."
