New Zealand festival keeps on growing

Festivals and holidays: 5 September 2006

From November 24th to December 10th New Zealand celebrates one of its natural icons, the pohutukawa tree, also know as the new New Zealand Christmas tree.

All profits from the festival's many and varied events go to conservation efforts for the tree, making the trip as ecologically virtuous as it is fun. Last year saw fantastic performances by The Black Seeds and Goldenhorse alongside Cocksy and Ewen Gilmour in the Comedy Debate and countless cafe crawls.

Stay in a rented holiday home in New Zealand and enjoy all the festival has to offer, including, of course, the beautiful December blossom of the hardy pohutukawa.
