Regional airport sees further growthFlight and travel info: 7 April 2008A regional airport in the UK has revealed that more people are passing through its gates and flying abroad this year. According to Robin Hood Airport in South Yorkshire, passenger numbers in March 2008 were 12.6 per cent up on the same period of the previous year. This means that people living in the vicinity of the portal, including those in Lincolnshire and Humberside, are increasingly seeing the three-year-old airport as a viable means of travelling abroad. Hugh Lang, a director at Peel Airports, commented: "A year-on-year passenger increase of over 12 per cent is something to be very proud of." Flights to Spain were among the most popular services, including routes to Alicante, Tenerife and Malaga. The Polish city of Krakow was identified as another hotspot for people flying out from the airport. This comes after a poll by travel search engine Multicom found that holiday providers have seen a 40 per cent increase in bookings during the first three months of 2008.
