Run on down to LisbonFestivals and holidays: 6 September 2006Professionals, amateurs and charity runners in all sorts of garb will have their eye on the calendar for December 3rd when the Portuguese capital hosts its 21st marathon. Organizers stress that running not only brings a great sense of satisfaction and achievement, but also allows participants to explore the beautiful city of Lisbon, both during and after the race. Those of us who aren't too confident about beating the times of last year's winners, Philip Biwot of Kenya and Russia's Elena Kozhenvnikova, can still stay in a rented holiday home in Portugal and push themselves with the half-marathon event, or just stand back and watch the crowd of runners accomplish their remarkable feat.
