Scottish people offered more flights abroad

Leisure travellers in Scotland will soon have a greater choice of potential destinations, it has been confirmed.

Budget airline Ryanair has announced that flights to destinations in France, Italy, Germany and Spain will be launched from Edinburgh Airport next year.

David Johnston, managing director of the Scottish portal, praised the move, describing it as fantastic news for local people and for the city.

He commented: "Ryanair's expansion from Edinburgh opens up brand new destinations and adds further choice and frequency for passengers."

The forthcoming flights will go to the French city of Marseille, Pisa in Italy and Alicante in Spain.

In addition, the German cities of Bremen and Frankfurt will also be serviced by the carrier from Edinburgh.

Earlier this month, online travel agency Lastminute.com tipped Italy to be one of the most popular destinations among British leisure travellers next year.

The firm said it had recently been among the best performing short-haul destinations and was likely to continue "doing very well" in the near future.
