Spain 'could attract tourists in 2008'Spain: 20 December 2007Spain could see a boom in tourist numbers in 2008 as it hosts two major sporting events, bringing with it opportunities for property investors in the country. The Spanish Grand Prix is due to be held in the spring at Barcelona's Circuit de Catalunya and a second motor racing event will take place for the first time in Valencia later in the year. Both races are expected to attract large numbers of sports fans and tourists eager to catch a glimpse of the Formula One stars in action and enjoy a relaxing Spanish holiday at the same time. The Association of British Travel Agents expects the Valencia event in particular, which will see drivers compete on a street circuit featuring a scenic stretch along the recently developed America's Cup marina, to draw some large crowds. The influx of tourists is expected to lead to higher demand for rental accommodation in and around Spain's major cities. According to Homes Worldwide many of Valencia's biggest hotels are already fully booked for the week of the race meaning owners of private rented accommodation are set to benefit.
