Tourists not put off by credit crunchFlight and travel info: 1 April 2008The credit crunch is not stopping people from taking holidays overseas, experts have stated. According to the Post Office, currency sales during the run-up to the recent Easter holidays remained strong. The organisation said this shows that global financial problems such as the credit crisis are not putting consumers off travelling abroad. Helen Warburton, head of travel at the Post Office, commented: "Currency sales in the weeks running up to Easter are a good indication that people want to hang on to their holidays." She added that currency sales went up by 20 per cent last month, although she partly attributed this to the early timing of Easter this year. However, she added that holidays are clearly a "firm priority" for many consumers in the UK. This comes after Mark Nancarrow of Thomas Cook told the Scotsman that the pound may get weaker in the near future.
