UK airport reports Christmas getaway

One of the UK's regional airports is set to handle its largest-ever amount of people going away for Christmas.

Norwich International Airport stated that thousands of people from Norfolk were planning to fly abroad in order to enjoy the festive season overseas.

Figures from the facility show that about 23,000 people are expected to go away during the next ten days, mainly to countries such as Spain and France.

This, it said, showed how air travel was now widely seen as a convenient mode of travel by members of the public.

Speaking to the Norwich Evening News, head of marketing Louise Wilkinson commented: "Our findings show our flights are fuller than last year and there's a growing awareness that it's quick and easy."

This comes after low-cost airline easyJet said that it was set to carry more than one million Britons abroad this Christmas.
