Links for Charity

From 1st November to 17th December, we will donate £1 to charity for every link created to our site www.holiday-rentals.co.uk. We have partnered with Homes with Heart; a charity that helps families of terminally ill children to have a holiday which they dearly need.

Homes with Heart is a unique organisation which lets holiday home owners donate spare weeks in their property to families who desperately need a break – young families where either a child or parent is terminally ill or has a life-limiting disease.

For families with terminally ill children, it’s often very difficult to plan a holiday when they need it the most. Illness often disrupts travel plans for many reasons, and travel insurance companies are often very reluctant to provide cover. Many of the families whom Homes with Heart has helped have lost deposits for holidays that never happened.

How Homes with Heart Works

Until Homes with Heart was launched in June 2008, it was very unusual for charities to be able to accept donations of this kind. Now, holiday home owners can donate any spare weeks in their property, and healthcare professionals refer deserving families for a stress-free and much deserved holiday.

Families receiving help from Homes with Heart are selected by healthcare professionals that have been working with the family for at least a year, and know which families really deserve a break like this. These families are often overlooked by other initiatives, and ask for nothing.

How to help

You can help raise money for Homes with Heart very easily. For every link you create to our site, www.holiday-rentals.co.uk, we will donate £1 to the charity.

To tell us about a link, you will need to fill out the short form below with information including the address (URL) the link is on, your name and email address.

We will only use this information to send you updates on the Links for Charity drive unless you wish to sign up to our newsletter.

How to create a link

To create a link to both HomeAway Holiday-Rentals and Homes with Heart at once, you can copy and paste the following code into your website management software’s source view:

Terms and Conditions

1.   For each new link created and entered on our form we will donate £1 to Homes with Heart

2.   Only one (1) link per website will be counted.

3.   Both HomeAway Holiday-Rentals and Homes with Heart appreciate if you also make a second link to http://www.homeswithheart.co.uk/.

4.   Links must be on a publicly available website and go directly to the homepage or any other page on www.holiday-rentals.co.uk.

Unfortunately, we can’t accept links created on Facebook or other web pages that can’t be seen by everyone.

5.   Links from social media sites count on the condition that no URL-shortening service is used, the link must be directly to http://www.holiday-rentals.co.uk or any page on HomeAway Holiday-Rentals.

6.   If you’d like to promote this charity drive on Twitter, we’ll accept each original entry with a link to HomeAway Holiday-Rentals (http://www.holiday-rentals.co.uk; no short URLs will be counted) if you use the hashtag #linksforcharity in your Tweet. Re-tweets do not count.

7.   StumbleUpon.com user profiles will count, but other StumbleUpon.com pages will not.

8.   Links created by holiday home owners as part of the Link My Property programme will not count.

9.   We fully reserve the right to approve or decline any links created. Any decision to decline a link is final.

10.   Entries will be accepted until 12 noon UK time (GMT) on 17 December 2009.

11.   By entering your URL, name and email address for this initiative, you allow us to email you with the progress of this charity initiative. The final email will be sent on or before 24 December 2009 and after that date your email address will be deleted from our ‘Links for Charity’ mailing list.

12.   If you also select to receive our Traveller Newsletter (optional), which is sent every 2 weeks, you will receive newsletters until you unsubscribe separately.
