Self-catering holiday homes: Ischia house
Make holiday rental accommodation or an apartment in Ischia, Italy your home away from home
The Island of Ischia lies in the mouth of the Bay of Naples. It is a relatively small island (47km²) in the Campania region of Italy, yet thousands of people flock to the magnificent beaches, thermal springs and self catering Ischia villas every year.
Things to do on the Island of Ischia, Italy
The main attractions available from accommodation in Ischia are the beaches, the sea and the spa centres, which could easily take up your entire Ischia holiday! There are many fine beaches of all styles, from wide beaches inundated with tourist facilities to the secluded, cut-off cove beaches only accessible by boat. The most famous beach is the Spiaggia dei Maronti, which was a favourite place for pirates to bury treasure – or so the story goes!
The therapeutic properties of Ischia’s thermal waters have encouraged visitors to the island for many years. Ranging from 20-80˚C, there are many thermal centres, and many of the hotels in Ischia fill their pools with spring water, which are accessible to members of the public staying in an Ischia apartment. You can also pamper yourself with mud-baths, hydro-massage and beauty treatments.
There are some magnificent hiking trails across the island which takes in some of the most interesting geological features of Ischia, including mini-volcanoes. Scuba diving is very popular activity too, with a number of diving schools and centres on the island. The popularity of the cave dives around the island are so popular during the summer that it is strongly advised that you pre-book dives during the peak season.
Places to holiday on the Island of Ischia, Italy
Ischia’s neighbouring island, Capri is a slightly more exclusive resort, and a little more famous than Ischia, but somehow lacks the same welcoming atmosphere which has made Ischia the more popular of the two islands for those wanting to take self catering holiday rental accommodation. Ischia is close enough to easily get a boat across to Capri, so you can visit the two huge attractions found there, the Blue Grotto caves and the Villa Jovis.
Weather in the Island of Ischia, Italy
Summer temperatures are stunningly hot, with daily temperatures often reaching around 36˚C, which is why Ischia villas with pools are in such high demand. During winter, average temperatures are still above 10˚C on the vast majority of occasions.
