Close to the Salle Municipale look for the restored lavoir where the local laundry was once scrubbed.

Tour the local Chateau

The Chateau de Montreal is just a pleasant stroll from your holiday home in Issac, just 2km away. This grand residence has the obligatory conical tower, chapel and servants' quarters and is delightful to look around. It still retains its 12th century ramparts and drawbridge. The English speaking guides also give tours of the gardens during the summer months.

Perigueux

The delightful market town of Perigueux lies 38km northeast of your holiday cottage in Issac and is one of the highlights of any stay in the Dordogne. The town is well known as the “city of truffles and foie gras” and the patés and cured meats are also worth sampling. Explore the Roman remains, domed cathedral and the medieval churches in this lovely town and enjoy eating out at one of the highly-acclaimed local restaurants.

Bergerac

Bergerac is one of the major towns in the Dordogne, a pleasant 16km drive south of Issac. Its charming old architecture and river location make it a delightful place to visit. Explore the local St Jacques Church on the main square and admire the many statues of the Cyrano de Bergerac scattered around the town.
