The famous fortified hill towns like Montefalco, Citta di Castello, and Umbertide (where Hannibal first defeated the Roman Empire) are all defiantly worth a visit. With so many places worth seeing on an Umbria holiday, it is suggested that hiring a car is the best way to get around.

Festivals and carnivals are very popular in the area, and Spoleto hosts the famous Festivals of the Two Worlds, and Torgiano is a must for all wine connoisseurs.

Umbria, Italy has a Mediterranean climate, so benefits from long, dry, hot summers starting at the end of April, with average temperatures of 23°C. Winters are cold; but the Apennine Mountains prevent the worst rain reaching Umbria.
