The main town on Korcula Island is also called Korcula. It is a fantastic example of a medieval Dalmatian walled town, where the red sloped roofs tuck up tight against the thick defensive walls. The birthplace of Marco Polo is famously in Korcula town, which has been turned into his museum. There are a huge range of museums, galleries and theatres throughout Korcula, making it one of the most cultural spots in this part of Croatia. Korcula is now the only place in Croatia where you can see the Moreska sword dance being performed.

Korcula, Croatia, is blessed with a Mediterranean climate. There are as many as 12 hours of sunshine during July and August, with average monthly temperatures during this period rising to around 25˚C, with daily peaks breaking the 30˚C mark on the vast majority of days. During the coldest months, (December and January), temperatures remain around 15˚C during the middle of the day.

Reaching Korcula Island is not as hard as you may have thought. There are regular flights from across the UK to Dubrovnik Airport (DBV), mainly provided by British Airways. The island is reached by ferry from many ports, including a large range of Italian ports, so your flight from the UK can actually land in most airports in Croatia and Italy.
