There is a real air of leisure in La Azohia. Things to do in La Azohia, Spain

Although the pace of life in La Azohia is almost stationary, there is a huge amount to do if you would like to get the adrenaline flowing. Swimming from the beach at the bottom of the village is excellent, with water temperatures remaining around 20˚C right through the summer until October. Mazarron Bay, upon which the village stands, is a fantastic place to go windsurfing and sailing, and there are plenty of opportunities to scuba dive from a La Azohia villa, regardless of your levels of experience, with two dive centres located within the village.

The coastline of La Azohia is mountainous, with a string of small cove beaches to discover. The mountainous coastline is excellent for walking too. The gorges between Puerto de Mazarron and Cartegena are perfect landscapes for walking, cycling and mountain biking. Touring the area on bike is a fantastic way to explore, letting you take in all the sights, sounds and smells of the tiny hamlets and villages of the area. After a long day of walking or cycling, there is a real treat to be had before you return to your La Azohia rental property; the La Azohia hotel has a magnificent spa centre open to visitors, or alternatively, you could indulge in a natural, open air spa at the El Saladillo Sulphurous Waters spa. There are also two fantastic 18 hole golf courses within half an hour of a La Azohia property, Camposol Golf and Hacienda del Alamo.

There are two wonderful national parks in the close vicinity of accommodation in La Azohia. The Sierra Espuna Natural Park is a beautiful area, attracting walkers, nature lovers and rock climbers from all over the world. Alternatively, and probably better for holidays with young children in the Granja Park, with swimming pools, adventure playgrounds and a huge assortment of farmyard animals.

In the evenings, La Azohia offers a huge amount of entertainment. There are a handful of absolutely exceptional restaurants to choose from, as well as some excellent little bars, especially those which look out over the sea towards El Pinar.

The town of Mazarron, just a few miles down the road, is a great place to spend a day from a self catering La Azohia villa. There are a great number of things to see in Mazarron, from Veles Castle to San Andres Church, and you can regularly spot whales and dolphins off the coast.
