Things to do in La Caleta, Spain

La Caleta is a great place to unwind, and an ideal place in which to do it is from one of the bars and some excellent seafood restaurants near the harbour, where you can enjoy some excellent fish that has been caught earlier that day. Many of these offer great views of the sea and the bay area.

If you are feeling a bit more energetic you can go for a dip in the sea, explore the harbour or take a sightseeing wander along the beach.

The beach at La Caleta is relatively small, and a mix of sand and pebbles. A short walk south will take you to the much sandier Playa de la Enramada beach. If you are in the mood to continue your walk, by carrying on south for a few kilometres you can enjoy a scenic walk along the coast to Playa de las Americas, which continues on to Playa del Duque, and all the way to Los Cristianos if you wish to carry on that far.

Playa de las Americas (just 7km away) is an extremely popular resort, and the islands ‘playground’, with a huge number of bars, restaurants, beaches, entertainment, water sports, and much more to keep you occupied. Further along the coast, Los Cristianos is a bit more a laid back, Golf de Sur has a number of great golf courses, and Costa Adeje is a high-class resort where you can pamper yourself.

This means that tourist remains steady through the months, and a holiday in La Caleta can be enjoyed in any season. Summer is warm and sunny without being unbearably hot, and ‘Winter Sun’ breaks remain as popular as ever.

La Caleta is just 25km west of Tenerife’s Reina Sofia International Airport (TFS). Many firms offer a taxi or transfer service from the airport to your holiday rental accommodation, or you can rent a hire car, which will give you some flexibility to explore the island. Flights arrive at the airport on a regular basis from the UK, with operators including Jet2, Easyjet and Ryanair.
