People flock to Lancashire from all across the world to enjoy the fantastic combination of wide, rustic green countryside, bustling seaside resorts and of course, the warm welcome you will almost certainly receive. Millions arrive annually for days out in Lancashire, yet there is so much to do upon arrival that a single day trip simply couldn’t even give you a flavour of this historic and varied county of North West England.

Things to do in Lancashire

Lancashire’s tourist attractions are numerous. The beaches that line the coast are among the best known Lancashire tourist attractions, with Blackpool offering what is almost certainly the most famous current beach resort in the country. However, away from the bustle, nightlife and roller coasters of Blackpool, Lancashire is also home to quieter, more naturally appealing beach resorts.

Away from Lancashire’s famous coastline are huge swathes of beautiful, unspoilt countryside, providing a vast range of things to do in Lancashire. There are countless miles of footpaths and cycle routes cutting through the green, undulating countryside. Lancashire walks can vary from short afternoon strolls after a hearty lunch in a Lancashire public house to multi day hikes into the limestone hills of the West Pennine Moors, the Forest of Bowland and the salt marshes along the coast. Lancashire walks up the peaks of the Clougha are well marked, and for a less strenuous yet equally spectacular Lancashire walk, there are more than 130 miles of coastal paths to explore. For those who would prefer to tour with a golf club in hand, there are some excellent options too. There are some excellent golf courses to play in Lancashire, including the world famous courses of Royal Lytham and St Annes.

The canal routes of Lancashire are huge attractions, and whilst they tell a story of the history of the area, they also provide a huge range of things to do in Lancashire. The canals here provide some of the finest canal fishing in England, as well as some of the most peaceful walking routes. Littered along the canals are among the most enticing Lancashire public houses too.

Places to visit on holiday to Lancashire

Blackpool is a huge attraction for many people flocking to a holiday rental in Lancashire. Blackpool Tower is one of the most recognised tourist attractions in Lancashire, marking the centre of the ‘Pleasure Beach’, a huge amusement park and funfair which has taken over much of the town. The nightlife is infamous, with many bars, arcades, theatres and performances opening every night. On the quieter side, Morecambe Bay is a beach resort and natural bird sanctuary of worldwide acclaim. Over 100 species of bird can be seen in the area, coming from countries around the world.
