The town of Lannion is tucked into the pink granite of the Cote d’Armor, Brittany. The town undulates hugely, with twisting stairways and steep streets lined with medieval houses. However, despite the ancient appearance, Lannion is the centre of Brittany’s high tech telecommunications industry, and the influx of money has meant that property in Lannion is usually very luxurious inside, yet perfectly cosy.

Things to do on holiday in Lannion, France

There are some delightful sites to visit in Lannion. The half-timbered houses which line the Place de General-Leclerc give the whole town a quaint atmosphere, which is hard to shake as you tour the town. The most picturesque place in Lannion, which also gives you the most spectacular views across the Cote d’Armor, is the 12th Century Eglise de Brelevenez. To reach the church, you have to climb 142 granite steps from the centre of the town, but the climb is definitely worth it.

Lannion’s weekly market, which is held every Thursday, is one of the best in the whole of the Cotes d’Armor, selling local produce, crafts and antiques. The daily fish market which runs from Tuesday to Saturday is also a wonderful place to visit to stock up on provisions for your Lannion holiday.

There is always enough to entertain visitors to Lannion. There are seven or eight fantastic little bars in the town, as well as a handful of restaurants serving everything from local delicacies to international cuisine. There are also bowling alleys, regular theatrical performances and a range of summer concerts in the town square to enjoy.

A holiday rental property in Lannion is a great spot from which to enjoy the glorious beaches of Brittany. Many people are beginning to favour the beaches of Brittany to travelling down to the Cote d’Azur in southern France. Even during the very height of summer, the beaches of Brittany never get crowded, and the shallow coastline makes them perfect for families. The pink granite cliffs of the coast near Lannion are marvellous for walking too, and there are plenty of marked walks throughout the countryside. There are also some great golf courses in the area, including the 18 hole Paimpol Golf Course, which offers a great challenge for both experts and beginners.

A cottage in Lannion is located within striking distance of the amazing medieval town of Dinan. Everywhere you look in Dinan is a place of interest, and you can easily spend many days wandering the twisting streets discovering little gems from galleries to restaurants, shops to cafes.

Summers in Lannion are very warm, averaging a staggering 25˚C. During the winter months, average temperatures hover around 8˚C, and rain is unpredictable. Cheap flights to Lannion, France

As with many of the towns in Brittany, reaching a holiday rental villa, gite or apartment in Lannion is incredibly easy. The town is fantastically linked to Paris, by train, coach and plane, which arrive into the tiny Lannion Airport (LAI). Lannion Airport doesn’t receive any direct flights from the UK, but keep your eyes peeled, as there is likely to be a new route added soon!
