La Manga is a narrow spit of land 22km (13 miles) long which stretches down from the pretty town of Cabo de Palos. Beaches lie on both sides of the strip, facing the Mediterranean sea and the lagoon of Mar Menor. The area is ideal for water sports, sailing, wind surfing water skiing and swimming.

Cartagena is a lovely old Spanish city and port is just 20km drive from your self catering villa in Las Higueras at La Manga. There is a Roman theatre here and several interesting museums.

Murcia is the capital city of the region and has some interesting architecture dating back to the 13th century. Murcia is 70km (40 miles) pleasant drive from your villa at Las Higueras. There are several museums including the Museum Ramon Gaya, a local artist whose work was influenced by Vasquez and Rembrandt. The Cathedral de Santa Maria has some very ornate baroque architecture.
