Lying in the Parc Naturel Regional d’Armorique, Le Faou is a pretty little French town with origins dating back hundreds of years. Its unique location places it both on the coast, and within the national park itself, giving access to both a protected rural area and some wonderful coastline and beaches. With everything that you need to feel at home right away, it is the perfect base from which to explore the historic Brittany region of France.
There are an abundance of activities to try whilst on holiday in Le Faou. With access to nearly 2700km of coastline, water sports are a big thing here. Try windsurfing, sailing or diving to name just three activities that are possible. The waterways and canals of Brittany also lend themselves to canoeing as well as fishing, and the entire region is very cycle friendly. Follow routes both official and unofficial on two wheels to discover quaint villages and sights of outstanding natural beauty.
The area around your self catering accommodation in Le Faou is brimming over with heritage and places to see. Just over 100km away are the amazing megaliths of Carnac, which are more than worth the trip made out to them. Other attractions include the Lac de Guerledan, and two chateaux at Josselin and Kerguehennec. Visit Huelgoat for the unusual rock formations, lakes, rivers and woods. Arthurian legend is intermingled with this area, and with its fairy tale atmosphere it is not hard to see why. Summer temperatures tend to hover in the low-20’s degrees Celsius, but rainfall can and does still occur all the year round. The closest airport to a holiday rental cottage in Le Faou is at Brest (BES). There are limited connections to the UK available here, mainly with airline Flybe. They operate flights between Brest and Birmingham (BHX) and Manchester (MAN). Ryanair also offer some seasonal flights from London Stansted (STN) although their schedule changes from year to year.
