Les Arcs, France, has not been distracted by the lure of extensive après-ski or a vast range of non-skiing activities. This is a skiing resort which focuses heavily on skiing, with over 200km of piste! As a result, taking accommodation in Les Arcs is probably not well suited to mixed parties or learners as the skiing in Les Arcs is predominantly for the intermediate or advanced skier, although there are both learner slopes and some excellent ski schools.

Snowboarders will be very happy in a Les Arcs chalet or ski apartment. The resort is known locally as the ‘home of the snowboard’, due to the work done here in popularising the sport. There are two half pipes and a snowparks to enjoy, as well as 150km of cross country skiing trails.

Having said this, you can still have a great night out from a Les Arcs ski apartment. There are over 25 bars, 5 clubs and 45 restaurants in which to see out the evening, as well as a bowling alley, swimming pool, ice rink and gym. If you require a day away from the slopes during your stay in a Les Arcs chalet, you can either spend the day being pulled on a dog sleigh, explore the town or take to the skies above Haute Savoie in a hang-glider or microlight.

Les Arcs’ ski season usually runs from mid-December until late April, and skiing is guaranteed during these periods. Outside of these times, Les Arcs becomes the focus for short ski weekends and walking holidays, taking advantage of the otherwise quiet ski accommodation in Les Arcs and the glorious scenery.

La Plagne is a huge skiing resort, and many of the facilities of Paradiski are available to those staying in Les Arcs accommodation. The nightlife is more vigorous than in Les Arcs, and there are a great number of ski-free activities to try too.

Chambery Airport (CMF) is the closest to Les Arcs accommodation, taking an hour and a half to reach by car. There are regular coach services from Chambery to Les Arcs, which take around two and a half hours to reach their destination.
