However it is a 7-hour bus ride or a small plane hop from Fortaleza. The city beaches around Fortaleza are more convenient and very good, lined with crafts shops, bars and restaurants for dining and enjoying cocktails as the sun goes down. Swimming, surfing and watersports can all be enjoyed in this lively vacation hotspot. This area of Ceará is also very popular for its festivals, which are well worth seeking out from your Ceará holiday villa. The locals love to parade and party on the streets. Carnival in February sees all kinds of street entertainment. The annual sailing regatta in July and the Festa de Iemanja in August are the main annual highlights of Fortaleza. For beach lovers, it is worth heading out of town to the Praia de Iracema and the Praia do Futuro, both lovely beaches in the area.
