Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue is located near to some very interesting places such as the pretty fishing town about of Barfleur. Visitors can see the Church of St Nicholas in this town and a short distance from here is one of the tallest lighthouses in France at Cape Barfleur. Cherbourg is about 40 minutes away and has several fine buildings such as the Basilica of the Holy Trinity and Abbey du Voeu. There are a few museums here worth visiting too such as the Museum T. Henry and the Liberation Museum. A little further afield is the historic town of Bayeux, which is most famous for its tapestry but is also home to the excellent Memorial Museum of the Battle of Normandy.

Seasonal flights also arrive here from Barcelona (BCN) courtesy of Brit Air and from Cork and Dublin (DUB) with Aer Arann. Alamo, Avis, Europcar, Hertz, National/Citer and Sixt are car hire companies represented at the airport. Alternatively a ferry service crosses from Poole and Portsmouth on the south coast of England to Cherbourg. The drive from Cherbourg to Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue is approximately 40 minutes.
