The name Encinas Reales means “Royal Oak” and refers to the ancient oaks which still surround this area. Long ago Queen Isabel the Catholic rested beneath one of the oaks and it became known as the royal oak. Granada’s Alhambra Moorish Fortress and Gardens are about an hour’s drive or visit the beautiful city of Seville (Sevilla) 176 km to the west. It has a splendid cathedral, the Torre del Oro and the Alcazar which was formerly a Moorish palace. The city also has some world-class museums and galleries.
