The Spanish town of Lliria lies in the beautiful province of Valencia, 25km northwest of the city of Valencia. The place is of particular interest to historians, as its home to the ruins of the city of Edeta, an important Iberian city during Roman times. The town itself is full of historic buildings such as the 13th Century La Sangre Church in the town square, the 14th Century Arab bakery as well as San Miguel monastery that sits on a hill overlooking Lliria. There is also an archaeological museum that contains Iberian ceramic collections and artifacts from Roman times. Lliria has a Mediterranean climate with hot summers and cool winters. As it is not located on the coast the temperature variations are more marked than on the coast, with some frost in winter. The average winter temperature is 11ºC, while the average summer temperature is 29°C. The rainy season is usually in September and October.
