There are fluctuations in the temperatures based on the season but, in general, the weather is mild all year. During the winter months, the average low temperatures are between 9° and 10° C and the highs are 16° to 18° C. In the spring, the average lows are 12° to 15° C and the highs are 20° to 23° C. The summer brings even warmer weather with average lows of 19° to 22° C and highs of 27° to 29° C. There is some rain each month with the least occurring during the summer and most during the winter months.
The closest airport to Malia is Heraklion Airport (HER), which is just 27 km away. It is recommended that you have a car for use during your stay, especially if you plan to explore the surrounding areas.
