Part of the reason for the recent surge in tourism is down to the area’s great beaches, as tourists look to get away from other crowded Mallorcan destinations. The majority of Manacor’s beaches have been awarded the Blue Flag for safety and facilities, and have begun to fill up during summer months.

Mallorca is known for its pearl industry, and Manacor is at the centre of it. Many of the factories allow visits and offer tours, allowing visitors to watch the entire process of pearl manufacture, and purchase items from the gift shop. Organised coach trips are easy to find, but you can also make your own way there.

There are several sites of historical importance located around the town, including the megalithic remains of S’Illot Son Vaquer – a Talaiotic village, and the remains of Son Pereto – a former chapel. A large number of other treasures from this period can be viewed at the Municipal Archaeological Museum.

No beach holiday would be complete without a some great food and a few drinks, and Manacor does not disappoint here. Though there are some excellent bars seafood restaurants to choose from, Manacor does not suffer from the masses of bar-crawling youngsters that can be found in other Balearic destinations

It is recommended that you rent a hire car when arriving at Palma de Mallorca Airport, which will then give you all the flexibility you need to travel around the island. Palma itself is sometimes overlooked by tourists, but is possibly the most beautiful town in Mallorca. Alcudia has some great beaches, and Magaluf is notorious for its throbbing nightlife. The island has many other delights to offer, depending on your interests, and the best advice is simply to explore.

Mallorca is well known for receiving over 300 days of sunshine every year, and temperatures can easily hit 30°C in July, August and September, whilst dropping to around 13°C during January and February. Manacor itself is situated in a hollow, which can sometimes result in burning heats in summer and freezing fogs on occasional days during winter.

The whole of Mallorca is served by the busy Palma (PMI) International Airport, from where it is a 63km journey to Manacor – taking around an hour by hire car or shuttle bus. Almost every budget airline flies to Palma from the UK, with the journey taking just over two hours.
