Marzahn-Hellersdorf is the eastern-most district of Berlin. It is a green, open district, known for its historical links with the ex-soviet occupation. Much of the architecture is clearly from this time, yet this adds to the atmosphere and attraction of the area, rather than detract from it. This is mainly a residential district, yet there are still sites of interest for tourists right on the doorstep of a self catering Marzahn-Hellersdorf apartment.
The most interesting sites in Marzahn-Hellersdorf include the Garten der Welt, (World Garden), which has beautiful nationally themed gardens. The pick of these are the Japanese, Bali and Korean gardens which are beautifully ornate.
The Schloss and Schlosspark Biesdorf castle is a fantastic place to explore. Build in a late classical style, in the late 19th Century, and only minutes from the Biesdorf Station, it is a charming place to spend an afternoon in the sun.
The U-Bahn is a huge asset for any Berlin visitor. IT links the whole city together, including Marzahn-Hellersdorf. The city centre, famous for its history, it’s shopping and its many festivals and events can be quickly and easily reached from an apartment in Marzahn-Hellersdorf, meaning the whole of Berlin is at your feet when staying in Marzahn-Hellersdorf.
Berlin is a lovely city to explore at any time of year. However, December, when the Christmas markets are in full force, and the height of summer, from June until August, are the most popular times to visit a self catering apartment in Berlin. During the summer, temperatures usually peak in the low 30’s (˚C), and rain is rare.
