One of the most famous walks in the Algarve is the coastal walk between Alvor and Lagos, upon which route the beach lies. There are also many walks into the unspoilt countryside which extends north from the beach, much of which has been designated as National Park land, protecting many of the species and areas of outstanding natural beauty which they encapsulate. Mountain biking is also encouraged here.
