Although climatic conditions can be fairly unpredictable, summer temperatures average around 30˚C, perfect for relaxing on the beach or taking a slow stroll around the town. Winter temperatures very rarely dip below 10˚C, although sea breezes, whilst perfect for sailing and windsurfing, can make it feel colder.

There is an extensive bus and train network on the island, so getting to any of the self catering accommodation in Messina from either Catania (CTA) or Palermo (PMO) should not cause any problems. Alternatively, you can get a ferry from the tip of mainland Italy, Calabria (use the ports of Villa San Giovanni and Reggio di Calabria), direct to Messina.
