The village of Molino del Piano is typical of the Val di Sieve region of Tuscany – quiet, peaceful and providing a feel of rurality, even though it is actually just a short distance from all of the sites, sounds and smells of the famous city of Florence. Holiday rental accommodation in Monte del Piano includes beautifully restored farmhouses – allowing you to live out that rural Tuscan dream.
Within the centre of Molino del Piano are all of the amenities you require to make the most of a self-catering holiday in Tuscany, with grocers, small supermarkets and bars just some of the local businesses vying for your patronage.
In the evenings you may choose simply to relax in your Molino del Piano holiday villa, perhaps with a glass of wine on the terrace or balcony. Molino del Piano is within the Chianti Classico region, and if you fancying learning more about the wine (and sampling a few vintages, of course!) you can join an organised vineyard tour or simply head out to the wineries by yourself.
Outdoor activities are the order of the day in this rural part of Italy, and the warm, sunny weather of spring and summer is the perfect compliment to this. Walking, hiking, mountain biking and horse riding are four of the most popular ways of exploring this unspoilt and diverse landscape, with olive groves, woods, fields and vineyards commonplace in this heart of 'real Italy'.
Florence is just 24km from Molino del Piano, and most visitors find themselves spending at least a day or two exploring this famous city of art, culture, stunning buildings, upmarket shopping and vibrant nightlife. Closer to home are the towns and villages of the Val di Sieve region, with many holidaymakers also adding the beautiful old town of Pontassieve (8km) to their itinerary.
If you visit Molino del Piano any time between early May and late September you will be virtually guaranteed warm temperatures and at least a few hours of sunshine every day. The weather outside of this period generally consists of mild temperatures but with increased rainfall, especially during November and December.
Molino del Piano can be reached via a flight to Galileo Galilei International Airport (PSA), 127km away near Pisa. Florence Peretola Airport is a much nearer destination, being just 23km away, but receives a very limited amount of flights from the UK. With a little searching, however, you may be able to find yourself a bargain.
