Renting your own little fishing boat and going on the hunt for tuna, marlin and swordfish is a wonderful way to explore the coast, and if you succeed, you can try your hand at local cooking methods in your self catering Monte Dourado villa too.

Monte Dourado is a world class golf resort too. There are two fantastic 18 hole golf courses within a 10 minute drive of a Monte Dourado villa, with both the Vale de Pinta and Gramacho Golf Courses open to anyone with a handicap certificate. If you would prefer a swift 9 holes in a stunning setting, the Vale de Milho is just up the road. There are also tennis courts within a short walk of a Monte Dourado rental property. Family holidays are particularly fun in the area, with two water parks and the famous Zoomarine aquarium all within 20 minutes.

The tourist feel is contained to the coastal regions of the Algarve. Daily temperatures during summer can reach 40˚C on occasion, and during the winter months, the conditions are absolutely perfect for golf holidays, dry, bright and mild.

Cheap flights to Monte Dourado, Portugal

There is excellent access from Faro International Airport (FAO), the Algarve’s main transport hub. Most British airports have direct services to Faro leaving daily, especially during the summer months. Bus services connect Faro and Carvoeiro, but in order to really get the most out of a Monte Dourado holiday, taking a hire car is an excellent option.
