Make a holiday rental home or apartment in Montjovet, Italy your home away from home
If your dream holiday involves walking, hiking and skiing high up in the mountains, far away from the tourist masses, read on. Montjovet is situated in the Bassa Valley area of the Aosta Valley, Italy - a mountainous region in the north-west of the country, near both the French and Swiss borders. The Aosta valley was originally a Roman route through the alps, with Hannibal and his elephants believed to have passed through in the 3rd century BC. Montjovet can be your base for recreating his epic journey (minus the elephants!).

Montjovet may be ‘off the beaten track’, but those that make the effort and book their self-catering accommodation here will undoubtedly be delighted with the stunning scenery and unexpected variety that the region has to offer. The town is a great base for holidaymakers that wish to stay in a semi-rural setting, but do not want to be inconvenienced by a lack of amenities. A decent number of cafes, bars and shops can be found in the town, meaning if you are happy to be self-sufficient in your Montjovet holiday apartment, you will never have far to travel to top up supplies.
If you prefer to eat out you will not be disappointed either, with wild boar, venison and porcini mushrooms some of the local specialities in the town’s restaurants. The Arnad-Montjovet area also produces a local medium-bodied dry red wine, which goes down a treat with these hearty dishes, and equally as well on its own.
Just a short distance from Montjovet, Monte Avic Natural Park sums up everything that is great about the Aosta Valley. Hiking and walking have long been the most popular activities in the park, with glacial lakes waiting to be explored, forgotten castles just asking to be rediscovered and mountains there to be climbed. Winters are all about skiing, but the park avoids the crowds of its Swiss and French neighbours.
