Trier, Ruwer Valley and beyond - Charming Countryside, World Class Wines and Premium Cycling
Become part of the delightful scenery and cycle or walk at your own pace through scenic vineyard routes and car-free cycle trails. Stop for lunch in local ‘Strausswirtschaften’ where wineries will serve home-made food with their wine from spring to late autumn. You will take in romantic wine villages and discover hidden castles, cloisters and orchards. Trier, which is barely 6 miles away, is a magnificent Roman city that’s worth more than just one visit. It is the oldest city in Germany with a history of more than 2000 years and many monuments including the famous Porta Nigra (Black Gate) recall the glorious days of the Roman Empire. The Romans also brought viticulture to this region and have given it an enduring reputation as wine capital of the Mosel. This region certainly loves celebrating and there are many wine festivals in a casual and relaxed atmosphere throughout the year. Good food and wine are always part of it whilst the themes changes from cycling to gardening and gourmet cuisine.
