Make a self catering villa in Na Macaret, Minorca your home away from home
For those looking for a little bit of unspoilt Minorca, Na Macaret is an excellent choice. It is an old fashioned seaside village on the north east coast, still off the tourist track with some tasteful, low level development. It is a quiet, tranquil part of the island with private holiday apartments and self catering villas served by a selection of excellent restaurants overlooking the beach. The north coast of Minorca is quite wild and rocky while the interior has lush green pastures. Elsewhere on the island there is plenty of shopping, busy resorts and an active nightlife.
Things to do in Na Macaret, Minorca
The quaint harbour inlet with its small local pleasure and fishing boats is a lovely place to walk after the heat of the day. Unspoilt as yet by high rise development and rowdy nightlife, this is the perfect place to enjoy a glass of wine and a tasty meal at one of the local fish restaurants.
There is a small sandy beach within walking distance of your self catering villa in Na Macaret. Offering safe bathing and some paddle boats, it is a popular beach with the locals.
Other top beaches on the island are Arenal d’en Castell, a fine horseshoe shaped bay with fine sand and a little more activity than Na Macaret. Son Saura beach is perfect for children, with its fine white sand and shallow water.
Places to visit near Na Macaret, Minorca
Combine a pleasant walk with some time at the beach when you visit Cala Pregonda. This remote beach is about 25 minutes drive from your villa at Na Macaret. It is then a 20 minute walk down to the beach from the car park. The pretty views are well worth the walk and the bay is ideal for snorkeling around the rocky outcrops.
Monte Toro is the highest point in Minorca and gives great views as you drive up the steep winding road to it. A chapel marks the summit and there is a café with a terrace from which to enjoy the views all over the island.
A trip to the port of Mahon is more fun than it sounds. Stop at the local gin factory and taste some of the free samples they give of the different types of gin they produce here. Opposite the gin factory are a number of tour boats which take you on a trip around the island. See where Nelson lived, and where Richard Branson has a home, as well as the historic La Mola fort.
La Mola is found on the opposite side of the port to the gin factory, but it is a fair distance so it is best to drive there. The old fort has some underground passages, tunnels and hidey holes, a former prison and some excellent sea views too.

The main international airport serving the island of Minorca is at San Clemente. There are cheap daily flights to Menorca International airport from all over the UK and Europe and it is just 24km (15 miles) from your villa at Na Macaret.
