Alghero
The town of Alghero with its distinctive historic architecture makes it a pleasant place to explore. It has many interesting sights including the 16th century Palazzo D’Albis - the former home of Emperor Charles V; the Madonna del Santo Rosario and the Church of St Michael. The piéce-de-resistance of the town is the Alghero Cathedral begun in 1570 which has five magnificent chapels, a bell tower and a grand neo-Classical pillared entrance.
Visit the Nuraghi
Sardinia has more than 6500 nuraghi, which are conical stone blocks or towers, scattered across the island and many are protected by the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Porto San Paolo
Porto San Paolo is part of the Marine Protected Area of Tavolara and the Punta Coda Cavallo. The old village was built of Sardinian musky stones giving it a quaint appeal. Fantastic sea views can be enjoyed across to the nearby island of Tavolara, which has a wonderful nature park.

Travel to Orosei, Sardinia
The main airport on Sardinia is the Cagliari-Elmas (CAG) Airport in the south of the island, but budget airlines tend to use the smaller airports at Olbia on the northeast coast and Alghero on the northwest coast. Taxis and buses connect the airports with local towns. There are also daily ferries to Sardinia from the mainland to the ports of Olbia, Cagliari, Arbatax and Porto Torres
