This stone faced cottage has panoramic views of the sea and surrounding mountains in the rural village of Dunquin on the Dingle Peninsula where 'Ryan's Daughter' and 'Far and Away' were filmed. The cottage has 360 degree views of the surrounding village, with the Blasket Islands in front and Mt. Eagle behind. The cottage is located on a quiet Cul De Sac off the 'Slea Head Drive'. The fully fitted kitchen and utility contains all modern amenities including dishwasher, washing machine, dryer, fridge freezer etc The sitting room has an open fireplace and a library of books, videos/ DVDs and music of local interest. Originally built in the style of a fisherman's cottage, extensive use is made of stone and wood. There are 3 bedrooms (one en suite) with a further family bathroom, sitting room and a reading room.

Caumeenole Beach is five minutes, 'Ceann Sibéal' 18 hole Dingle Links Golf Club is 15 minutes and Dingle Town is 20 minutes. The Blasket Islands Ferry leaves from the nearby pier - The Blasket Interpretative Center provides an insight into the unique way of life of the Blasket Islanders. The Dingle Peninsula is rich in archaeological remains stretching back to 3,000 BC. The area is popular with walkers and the 'Dingle Way' walk passes through the village. Irish traditional music can be enjoyed in the local pubs.

I have stayed at this listing many times - and every time is a joy. The views are the best part - I never tire of watching the Blasket Islands. Scenery is dramatic and lovely. Upkeep is great, and the neighbors are a treasure. The local pub is just a short walk accross a field, where Irish music from local musicians is a regular occurrence. A great launch point for day trips around the pennisula, or into DIngle for shops, pubs and restaurants. We have visited in Decemver, May and June - all good times to go (but you never know what Irish weather will be.) We love the kitchen and the fireplace, as well as the smell of burning peat.
