Sunny contemporary just across Perkins Street from the harbor and the Fort Pentagoet National Historic Site. 5 minute walk from the center of town, but very quiet and private setting, back from the road. Cathedral ceiling, gourmet kitchen, hardwood floors and working fireplace. Three bedrooms, two with beautiful water views. Be sure to consult our calendar for availability first!

Castine, Maine is one of the most historic and well preserved coastal villages on the entire US East Coast, originally settled in the 1600's. The Castine area is host to theatre, summer concerts at Kneisel Hall, quality shops, art galleries, antiques, Maine Maritime Academy and fine restaurants. Centrally located between Camden and Bar Harbor (1 hr. to each), the town offers a quiet and convenient place to stay. In Castine, we have one of the oldest nine hole golf courses in the country, a tennis club (clay courts), yacht club, Dyces Head Lighthouse and many historic walking trails. Working fishing villages, Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor, Camden, and Isle au Haut are all lovely day trips accessible from the town. The local waters are favorite cruising spots for both yachts and the Maine windjammer fleet. The area offers several excursion boats, hiking, and sea kayaking. There is a rocky beach just across the road, or 1/2 mile away is a sandy public beach.

We have rented the Chase house for two weeks each summer for many years. The house is always immaculate. The interior architecture makes the home seem even more spacious than it is. The location is great - everything you need is pretty much in walking distance. (BTW- they have a great high tech washing machine too!)

Hi again. 2008 will be the 4th year that we've rented Andy and Lauren's home, and obviously we are very happy there. In fact, it feels like going home, every time we turn into their drive at the beginning of our stay! The house is very comfortable, and is well-equipped for good, relaxing vacation. We used to go out to dinner most nights during our Castine stay, but we find ourselves cooking in more and more each year. The grill on the deck is easy and efficient, and the kitchen, though small, is well-stocked and easy to move around in. So we put on some music, open the windows, open a bottle of wine, and then preparing dinner becomes fun rather than a chore. In addition to the kitchen, we enjoy the well-furnished living room, the colorful garden and the deck with the great view, and the comfortable bedrooms. You'll love this house too, BUT DON"T TAKE OUR WEEK!! ;-)

After four wonderful seasons of bliss at Andy & Laurens lovely home, I'm a little afraid to say how much we enjoyed it...for fear that it'll be rented the next time we come. But, after four years, maybe we have an "in" with Andy. The house is truly a "home." A super kitchen, which inspired us to cook in rather than going out which, by the way, saved us a pile of dough. A lovely, comfy living room and a great deck overlooking the harbor. Three very pleasant bedrooms and 2&1/2 baths, so nobody's bumping in to anyone else. But most of all, the house just feels "right." Each time we drive up the driveway, we look at each other and say..."let's stay a little longer this time." And, maybe next year, we will.

We recently stayed at this very pleasant home over the week of July 4th and found it to be very nice. It is located a five minute walk from down town with water views and a great outside deck. I would highly recommend anyone to rent this home!

We've vacationed in Castine for the last 5 years, but
this was the first year that we rented a house. The
Chase house was perfect for my wife and I and our
good friend: It is a very comfortable house in a
great location, and with nice views of the boats
going in and out of the harbor. We cooked at the
house more evenings than we went out for dinner,
and appreciated having the well-equipped kitchen
to work in, and the gas grill to cook on. We enjoyed
sitting on the deck in the morning sun or afternoon
shade, and were pleased to have the lovely garden
next to the deck to enjoy as well. After staying at an
inn in the center of town the past few years, we
really appreciated the quiet at the Chase house.
Even though we just left a few days ago, we are
already looking forward to returning to the Chase
house next summer!
