Originally a hunting camp built in the late 1800's, the property has been modernized and expanded over the past dozen years without losing any of its original charm or privacy. Located well off the beaten track, and behind the locked gate of the Quansoo Beach Association, this area of Quansoo typifies the 'old' Vineyard of single-lane dirt roads, rural seclusion, and views of field, pond, ocean, and beach. The ten acres front 600' on Tisbury Great Pond and share two other contiguous parcels of pond shore and wetlands with a community trust. Scrub oak and pine shield the two houses, assuring privacy. The seventeen-foot height restriction in the community makes the few surrounding homes virtually invisible from either house. All wiring is underground.
The main house includes three bedrooms with cathedral ceilings and fans, two with pond views; the master suite is separated from the children's bedrooms. There are two full baths plus an enclosed outdoor shower. The master bedroom has a queen; the other bedrooms have a full and two twins between them. The kitchen and dining room are joined by a tiled island bar with range/oven insert; the dining room and living room open by French doors onto a full deck with lounges. The deck overlooks the pond. The large living room with fieldstone fireplace opens onto a new sun porch with full views of the pond. The house has hot water, baseboard heat.
The pine-paneled guesthouse is on a winding path 100 yards from the main house. It has electric baseboard heat, a bar kitchen with new refrigerator and stove, a full bath and one bedroom. The bedroom has a queen, and there is a queen sleep sofa in the living room. The cottage is accessible by a separate road and has its own parking area. The guesthouse has its own phone line. Boats, including a fourteen-foot motorboat with motor and 3 kayaks, are available and anchored at the pond. Rental of either house includes use of the Quansoo Beach Association beach, one of the finest and least populated on the island. It is accessible from the houses by foot or car--one mile--or by boat.
Please note: When rented separately, the guest house is allowed the use of at least one kayak (paddle and life vest). The use of the motor boat is included with the main house, only.
