San Francisco holiday apartment

Firstly the neighbourhood. My wife, two boys aged 11 and 8, and I all loved Haight-Ashbury. No doubt the area is slightly less polished than some parts of the city but we all enjoyed our time there and found the shops, restaurants and cafes to be friendly, good value and fun. We were forever jumping on and off buses, coming and going at all times of the day and not once did we find the area to be other than charming. The apartment is superbly located for a stay in San Francisco. A ten minute walk takes you to the base of the Golden Gate Park, a lovely place to walk, explore and for the kids to play. The park houses the superb California Academy Of Sciences which was one of the highlights of our trip. We had Muni passes as part of our City Pass and went everywhere by bus, tram and metro. As Haight Street is well served by buses we could be on Union Street in twenty minutes or Union Square in fifteen.

The apartment itself was perfect for our needs. Two lovely bedrooms, a well appointed kitchen and a comfortable living and dining area. We had such a full agenda we did not spend too much time there but it was always lovely to come back at the end of a day's sightseeing and relax in such pleasant surroundings. My wife and I remarked a couple of times that it felt like we'd been loaned a friend's place for a week rather than we'd simply rented from the internet. Incidentally, the pictures on HomeAway represent the apartment accurately. It really is just as you imagine it's going to be.

Richard the owner was a pleasure to deal with throughout. His relaxed attitude to the whole process was welcome and the information he provides about the surrounding area and aspects of the apartment was most helpful.

We couldn't have chosen a better place to stay in San Francisco for our vacation. My husband, teenager son and myself found it perfect. The apartment is very well located, so close to the shops, restaurants and all the activity going on at Haight Street it seems incredible the place is so quiet and peaceful. It exceeded all our expectations in every sense- space, cleanliness, perfect beds after exhausting days, natural light, appliances-. It is also within walking distance to the Golden Gate Park and round the corner to the bus and muni that take you downtown and to the Presidio and Marina area.
Our only regret is that we tried to do so many things that we didn't have enough time to enjoy thoroughly the apartment and all the books in its shelves.
Coming from Spain, it was also very convenient that the owner most kindly offered us the possibility to pay the rent in Euros, therefore saving the exchange expenses.


Este apartamento es el lugar ideal para unas vacaciones en San Francisco. Está situado en el barrio de Haight-Ashbury, que sigue atrayendo a muchos curiosos por sus recuerdos de la época hippy pero igualmente a los más modernos por sus tiendas de ropa y artilugios (nuestro hijo adolescente disfrutó de cada momento). Además está muy cerca del Golden Gate Park, con los renovados museos de Ciencias (con un magnífico Planetario) y Bellas Artes. El apartamento está bien comunicado; las paradas del autobús están a la vuelta de la esquina y el metro (muni) a dos manzanas; tampoco hay problemas para encontrar taxi, además hay todo tipo de tiendas y un supermercado bien surtido.
En cuanto a la vivienda, superó todas nuestras expectativas: es cómoda, luminosa y muy limpia. Las dos habitaciones son muy amplias, las camas grandes y confortables. El salón-comedor es luminoso y tranquilo, cuenta con una biblioteca bien surtida y un televisor de gran tamaño. La cocina es enorme, con todos los electrodomésticos y el menaje que pueda imaginarse. Hay agua caliente abundante y la ducha funciona a la perfección.
El propietario es la amabilidad personificada. Tuvimos la ocasión de conocerlo y además nos ofreció la posibilidad de pagar el alquiler en euros, con el consiguiente ahorro de los gastos bancarios.
Sólo podemos dar buenas referencias de este apartamento y de su propietario y volveremos a la primera oportunidad.

I stayed with my family for 5 days in the middle of a 3 week road trip. It was an absolutely perfect respite to shared 2 queen-bedded rooms. really good facilities with washer, dryer, dishwasher and fully-equipped kitchen. Luxurious and chic furnishings. Plenty of space and storage. On-road parking achieved within 2 blocks(usually 1.) Very close to local Haight-Ashbury. Really good local information provided by landlord.
