Our Lake Superior Retreat was built in 2003. It is a fully furnished log home in Beaver Bay Minnesota. Situated on a fairly secluded wooded 4.1 acre lot with 254 feet of lake shore. Every room has a view of Lake Superior. You will find that the warmth and coziness of the hand-hewn log interior, the openness of the vaulted wooded ceiling, the Lake Superior field stone wood burning fireplaces and the casual elegance of hand-tied oriental rugs on hardwood and ceramic tile floors through-out the whole house, will offer you a place to relax and enjoy the peace and serenity that our home has to offer during any season. It is our pleasure to share our rustic yet very elegant home with you. There is nothing else like it on Lake Superior. You will leave feeling relaxed and refreshed. The main floor has a large foyer with slate flooring.

Beaver Bay is centrally located for all of the various activities you enjoy. Just 50 miles north of Duluth and 40 miles south of Lutsen. You can hike, bike, ski, fish, boat, golf, explore state parks, or just have a romantic getaway, sitting in front of a fire during the cooler months, or sitting on the deck listening to the waves crash on the shore on a warm summer night. The Superior Hiking Trail is right outside our front door. We like to hike all year round. The Beaver River and the Caribou River are personal favorites. 7 miles of the Gitchi Gami Trail are completed so far, bring your bikes or roller blades to enjoy this wonderful path. We have three gorgeous state parks just a few minutes away that offer trails of vast beauty. View the falls at Gooseberry Park, bring a picnic to enjoy after touring Split Rock Lighthouse, or hike along the Baptism River at Tettegouche.

The great room has a natural fieldstone wood burning fireplace and french sliding doors leading to a deck which runs the length of the house over looking the lake. A dining room and fully equipped kitchen, and a mudroom off of the kitchen. On the top floor we have the master bedroom with large glass doors leading to a deck giving you a panoramic view of the lake and master bath with a jacuzzi, as well as the loft which over looks the great room below, where our children like to sleep on aerobeds. The walk-out lower level has ceramic tile through-out, a field stone wood burning fireplace, two bedrooms, a full bath and a laundry room. There are sliding french doors leading to the brick patio under the deck and a hot tub. We have ceiling fans in every room, and in floor heating. We think you will enjoy staying in our home so much that you won't want to leave.

Even Better Than Expected!

I was impressed with the information and photos provided on this site... and even more impressed upon arriving at this absolutely stunning home! Words just can't do it justice. Every detail is taken care of, from cushy comfy beds to soap and shampoo to books and games. We did NOT want to leave! I highly recommend it. Absolutely stunning.

The property is extremely clean and well maintained. You feel welcomed from the moment you step in the door.

Dawn is an absolute angel to work with.

The eight of us enjoyed relaxing in the living room in front of the fireplace and spending time down by the lake. The kitchen is well laid out and perfect for preparing food for a large group! We also enjoyed a day trip to Grand Marais for shopping and lunch ('My Sister's Place' was perfect for our group of gals - lots of neat things to look at while you wait for your lunch to arrive!)

Awesome rental

This home was the perfect setting for our families north shore experience. It is a beautiful home that is well cared for, with comfortable accommodations for 8, and awesome views of the lake. It is centrally located for many of the sightseeing highlights on the shore. The only minor drawback was the lakeshore access and consequent use of which was slightly limiting. We would highly recommend this property and hope to be renting this property again. Dawn is great to work with.

The lapping of the waves, the fire crackling in the huge stone fireplace, the breathtaking views of Lake Superior, the slate floors, the granite countertops, the soft leather furniture, the soothing hot tub, and the soft comfy beds are all a treat for the senses. This was our third visit and Dawn is always easy to work with and very helpful. Combine all of this with the natural beauty of the North Shore and the people you love to share it with, and one could not ask for more. As a photographer I found the possibilities endless!!

Perfect Girlfriends' Weekend Retreat!

Our group of long-time friends (who have booked many "up north" vacation rentals over the years) were in complete agreement that yours is by far the best! Your idyllic, spacious log cabin personifies that "North Shore Getaway" feeling in a rustic northwoods lakeside setting -- but with every amenity provided: wonderfully comfy beds and bedding, top of the line appliances and cookware, crystal clear water in the "state of the art" outdoor hot tub -- you thought of everything and skimped on nothing! From the expansive deck we were treated to stunning Lake Superior views during the day and incredible stargazing at night. The location is equally perfect -- very private and secluded yet close to so many activities! We loved having DIRECT access from the cabin to superb hiking (up the spur trail to the Superior Hiking Trail) as well as biking (using the bikes you so kindly provide, on the paved Gitche-Gami Bicycle Trail). When we tired of "eating in", the Cove Point lakeside dining room was only a short stroll away.....! We loved exploring farther up the lake as well ....shopping in Grand Marais and hiking to the "Devil's Kettle" at Judge C.R. Magney State ParkI I could go on and on but then you might become so heavily booked we couldn't come again... :-) Thanks, Dawn and Jeff for sharing your special spot with us!

Beautiful and Breathtaking

We were so fortunate to have stayed in this beautiful North Shore retreat, especially during the fall color season. Our daugther-in-laws family was visiting from Brazil and this being their first trip to MN, we wanted to show them the beauty of the North Shore. Not only did we see that, but also this beautiful house. The views of the lake are breathtaking, whether viewed from the great room, the loft beds or on the deck, plus having a path down to the lake was really nice so we could view from there as well. From the house we drove to Split Rock, Gooseberry Falls and then went futher up the shore to Grand Marais, but also did a lot of walking right from the house. There wasn't anything lacking at this property, it was extremely well equipped, especially the kitchen, which made it a snap to prepare meals. If you're looking for a beautiful place to stay along the North Shore, check this one out, you won't be disappointed!! You'll feel the warmth as soon as you turn in to the driveway.

Dawn is great to work with and very prompt with responses, thanks for all of your help!!!

We hope to stay here again.
