Photos and Description of this County Galway holiday house 3 Bed cottage sleeping up to 6 people, 2.5 bathrooms.

Located at the heart of the Lough Cutra Castle Estate in south Galway this three bed house was built during the Great Famine of 1846. It was converted into living accommodation in the 1920s by the Gough Family who moved out of Lough Cutra Castle at that time. The Cottage reflects their lifestyle having wooden floors throughout the downstairs as well as a marble fireplace in the large living room. There is ample seating for up to seven guests around the dining table and in the living area. There is a fully equipped and fitted kitchen and adjacent utility room. Two of the bedrooms are doubles (one with en suite shower) and the third bedroom is a twin. The upstairs bathroom has a tub and shower.

Cormorant Cottage- what a lovely place!

Review Submitted: November 4, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2009
We spent our holiday the second time in this charming and extraordinary house. We love the calmess in this private area. The kids love the space and the ancient furniture and the huge fireplace in the house. Also the different animals are lovely there. The landscape is absolutly briliant, the lake is lovely, my husband was fishing there. We hope that we can go back soon, we miss this special accommodation and the friendly people there!

If Only The Walls Could Speak

Lyn & Rod Adelaide, Australia
Review Submitted: October 9, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
We are a family of four from Australia, who stayed in Cormorant Cottage in July 2009. We were intriged from the moment we went through the archway, up the winding driveway and through the beautiful grounds. The cottage was full of history (if only the walls could talk), and we felt as if we had stepped back in time. At the same time, it had all the mod-cons, was spacious, comfortable and fully equipped. Our teenage girls loved wandering the grounds and making friends with the geese, horses, donkey and dogs. The view across Lough Cutra and the Castle was very beautiful. It was a great base for visiting the surrounding countryside, including the amazing Burren. Thank you Edward for your prompt and friendly service. Cormorant Cottage added to our Irish holiday memories and adventures.

Beautiful and Secluded

crun Chicago
Review Submitted: August 15, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2008
We found this lovely cottage on the Internet and rented it based on the pictures and location. It was amazing. Spacious and warm, we and our three teens had plenty of room to spread out. Beautiful grounds to walk with great sunsets. We discovered the amazing garden the day before we left and literally had to peel our kids away when we were leaving. Castle Grounds are a short drive to Gort, which has a few shops and good groceries to stock the kitchen with. We were actually thrilled to find the kitchen well stocked with dishes, pans, coffee press, electric kettle and microwave. Kids loved the vintage style and antiques that the cottage is decorated with. Thanks Edward and Ruth, for a lovely stay!
