Located on the Minas Basin, home of the world's highest tides, near Wolfville in the beautiful Annapolis Valley, in a quiet village setting. This 1854 Cape Cod house, lovingly restored, was the home of the builder and captain of the last wooden sailing vessel to work the Minas Basin. There are two shared bathrooms, two sitting rooms, a dining room, kitchen, front veranda and back porch, flagstone patio, and herb garden with table for outdoor dining. From three of the four bedrooms you can see the early morning sunrise over Minas basin. This is a tranquil place to write or paint, do yoga in the garden or on the beach, take long morning walks to watch the sunrise on sandstone cliffs. Bed linens are 100% cotton. Natural, unscented cleaning products used. Hardwood floors. Pesticide-free property. Smoking is permitted outdoors only. One hour from Halifax or Halifax international airport.

Kingsport Beach, with swimming at high tide, a wharf, and boat launch, and miles of walking at low tide along red sandstone cliffs, is less than a minute's walk away. The highest tides in the world are here in the Minas Basin. You can explore the bottom of the sea at low tide and move up the beach as the tide comes in. Great fun! The basin is summer feeding ground for migratory shore birds. Hike the fabulous trails at Blomidon Provincial Park and Cape Split, 15 minutes away. Visit Wolfville with its theatres, restaurants, galleries, and shops, Acadia University, and botanical garden featuring native species. This is the home of the Acadians, the original French settlers who came here 400 years ago. Grand Pre National Historic Site, which commemorates their lives and losses, is 15 minutes away. Dine on lobster at the wharf and visit artists' studios in Halls Harbour. Rent kayaks and canoes nearby or join a group for hourly or daily outings.

Outdoor fun year-round: There are several 18-hole golf courses within a 15-30 minute drive. Kayak, canoe and bicycle rentals nearby. Horseback trail riding on the nearby North Mountain. Superb hiking trails at Blomidon and Cape Split. The many beaches and shorelines provide a wide variety of interesting walks. Ski Martock (downhill, cross-country, snowboarding) is 40 minutes drive away. It's a great area for cross-country skiing. Acadia University has an athletic centre with ice skating and Olympic pool.

Lifestyle and events: The Annapolis Valley is famous for its apples and fragrant spring orchards. The Apple Blossom Festival is held at the end of May each year, with a parade and music events. Nature walks are held regularly by the Blomidon Naturalists Society. Organic Farmers Market in Wolfville on Saturdays throughout the year. Excellent massage therapists in the area. Eagle watching in winter months. Sleigh rides are available locally.

Medical and shopping: There are modern hospital facilities and shopping centres 15 minutes away in New Minas and Kentville.
