Rocky Cove House sits on Johnson's Bay. The house has 3 bedrooms; the master bedroom has a queen bed and the other two bedrooms each have a full bed. The living room also has a fold out sofa. The large kitchen is fully equipped with everything you will need to cook up your lobster feast-or to prepare quick meals on the run between hiking trips, kayak excursions, and whale watch tours. The spacious living/dining area with oversized sliders provides great views of the ocean. The house has a TV/DVD with cable, and high speed internet. Step on to the deck to enjoy the salty breeze, the whisper of the fir trees, and the wonderful view. The house has a washer and dryer; bed and bath linen provided.

Lubec has bold coastal cliffs, coastal rain forest, wildflower meadows, and several sandy beaches (rare this far Down East). The region is host to three state parks, a national wildlife refuge, and several nature preserves, all of which offer well maintained hiking trails. Lubec claims the easternmost point of land in the U.S. and is home to the West Quoddy Head Lighthouse, one of the most photographed lighthouses in the country. In fact, you can see and visit 5 lighthouses within a 10 mile radius of Lubec. Local whale, wildlife, and puffin tours offer the chance to observe nature up close. Nearby kayak and canoe rental facilities and the many public boat ramps in the area also offer a chance to explore and observe. The area is rich in history-from the first naval battle of the Revolutionary to Maine's own 'Cannery Row' which lined the waterfronts of the Downeast coast. You'll find it all here-rich history, spectacular scenery, abundant wildlife, and friendly people.

A Unique & Wonderful Experience Downeast

If there were a truth in advertising award for vacation rentals, this property would deserve to be a winner--with one caveat: it is even better than the description and photos indicate. Having recently returned from a week-long, mid-fall stay, I can confirm that the view is spectacular; the cottage was neat, clean, cozy, and comfortable; and the neighborhood is interesting and offers many beautiful vistas. Although there are a few other homes in the vicinity along the sparsely settled road, the property itself offers considerable privacy. Be sure to heed the advice of locals about the steep and swiftly moving tides when exploring the beautiful and rugged cove at the doorstep. Lubec, Campobello Island, the limited number of shops in the area, and the public lands and lighthouses in the vicinity were lots of fun to explore, and there isn't a shopping mall for miles and miles. Management was a pleasure to deal with, and there really was free, unlimited Internet service.
