Right in the center of town in Loiza, during the last week of July, the locals celebrate the St. Jaime's Carnival, wearing colorful masks and costumes,while singing and dancing their traditional and contagious music. These Afro-Caribbean cultural trends have been beautifully and tastefully captured by the local artists, Samuel Lind and the Ayala family. Their respective homes and 'taller' workshops are only steps from the Malibu gate. Loiza is also home to Iglesia San Patricio, which dates to 1670 and is the oldest church in continuous use in Puerto Rico. Tasty fresh crab (JUEYES) dishes can also be found through out the town of Loiza, the family owned/operated 'El Parrilla' restaurant is among the best in the island.

GUESTS' COMMENTS: Ania 04/12/2008 We had a wonderful time in Puerto Rico. We did a lot of traveling: we went south to Ponce and visited the Museo Castillo Serralles. We saw the radio telescope in the west. We visited the rain forest and saw the great exhibits there. We visited the Bacardi factory (to my 18-year daughter's delight). We spent lots of time in San Juan visiting different restaurants. We went to different beaches and saw the huge waves. Thanks for your warning. A number of the beaches were actually closed but we always found some that were open. We enjoyed the iguanas greeting us every day: they were sun-bathing on the wall outside the compound and were quite happy to pose for pictures. Thanks again, Ania, George and Sophie

Carribean round trip

We were a group of 6 persons from Switzerland making a carribean round trip starting in Puerto Rico Feb 09. As we arrived in Puerto Rico we met Maritza at the airport-she gave us the keys and explained the way to Loiza-Everything was fine and we easily found our malibu condo. Its a very nice area situated directly at the sea with a very nice garden and a clean, lovely pool. In the appartement we had everything we needed and enough space for 6 persons. Loiza is close to san juan, the rain forest, the port for culebra and vieques-so very good location for active vacation. We really enjoyed our stay in the Malibu Condo Loiza and we would recommend this location to everyone looking for a tranquil vacation with the possibility for lots of activities.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Sightseeing, Romantic Getaway

Best of Everything

This was my 3rd time staying at Malibu and once again it was great. The condo was clean, comfortable and convienent. There was even an additional new and larger pool to enjoy when not kayaking, hiking, sightseeing, shopping and more. Thanks for making out visit to PR another fun vacation.

Hope to see you again next year, there are always new places to explore and to discover. I grew up in the island and I have not yet completed my list of "most visit" locations. I just visited Mar Chiquita on my last trip and would love to go to Toro Negro (one of the highest peaks in the Island) on my next visit. If you need suggestions on locations that might not be on your typical travel brochure, but are as beautiful and even more enchanting than the most commonly visited destinations, let me know as I can suggest several places.

Malibu condo in Loiza

I visited PR in Feb '09 and had a wonderful stay at Malibu condos. The unit was exactly as it was described. It was very clean and newly decorated with attractive furnishings. My favorite spot at the condo was the large balcony overlooking the grounds. The pool area was wonderful and never crowded. One of the pools is brand new and has great night-time lighting. The beach is fine white sand with plenty of shade or sun-totally relaxing! There are so many things to do and see nearby: Rainforest, Beaches, Dining, BioLuminescent Bay, Old San Juan, etc.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Girls Getaway, Tourists without a Car, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children

Amazing Poroperty - Don't Miss Out!!

This Christmas Vacation my family and I took our first trip to Puerto Rico and stayed in Loiza. Our beach front property was tastefully decorated, close to the beach, extremely clean/well maintained, and in an area that was quiet yet close enough to nearby restaraunts, stores, and outlet malls.

I don't think I have ever stayed at a vacation home that was so well decorated ( I really can't emphasize that enough). Everyone was friendly and hospitable. Amazingly enough, the owner of property even left her family's holiday party to welcome us and bring us dinner upon arrival.

This was an amazing trip tand I would recommend any and everyone to take advantage of it if at all possible.

My Family's Best Trip To Puerto Rico

This was my third time visiting the island and I must say my best trip ever. First, Maritza met us at the airport with in minutes of our arrival. When we arrived at the condo, we could'nt believe how beautiful and tastely decorated it was. It had everything we needed and more. I loved the nights we barbqued on the balcony! The semi-private beach was wonderful. The pool was amazing! (By the way, they're buliding an even bigger on next to the two they already have!). They also have a jacuzzi! The security was so friendly and the locals were so helpful and frirendly. The location was perfect for all the attractions. The El Yunque was absolutely beautiful. There is a brand new Super Walmart on the way and you can get groceries and all your necessities. Try the homemade Puerto Rican food it is delicious. Maria, thankyou for the wonderful trip!
